KHEEMA ROLL/ MINCED MEAT ROLL




Kheema or minced meat roll is a healthy and fuss free dish that you can make for parties, get togethers and also at tea time with family. It is also an ideal dish for your and your kid's lunch box as it is easy to carry and eat. Do try out this easy recipe and I am sure you will like it.


Ingredients

For cooking the kheema

250 gms Kheema/ minced meat
1/2 tsp salt
1 and 1/2 cups water

For the filling/ stuffing

3 tbsp oil
1 cardamom
1 cinnamon
2 onions sliced
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp ginger paste
3/4 tsp red chilli powder (or to taste)
salt to taste
2 tomatoes pureed
cooked Kheema
handful of coriander leaves

For the chapathi roll

2 cups wheat flour
1/2 tsp salt
water as needed






Method


  • Take cleaned Minced meat in a pressure cooker, add salt and water and pressure cook for 4 to 6 whistles till the meat is cooked and soft. Pressure cook for more whistles if necessary.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add cardamoms, cinnamon and onions and saute till the onions turn soft and golden.
  • Add garlic and ginger pastes and saute for a minute till the raw smell goes.
  • Next add red chilli powder, salt, tomato puree and coriander leaves and cook till oil starts separating.
  • Finally add the cooked kheema and mix well.
  • Close a lid, reduce heat to medium and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Mix well and switch off the gas. Kheema stuffing is now ready. 
  • Now take wheat flour in a bowl, add salt and add water little by little to make a smooth and soft dough.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal balls. 
  • Take 1 ball, dust with flour and roll to make a thin chapathi/ roti.
  • Heat a tava/ skillet and place the chapathi on it.
  • Cook on both sides, then drizzle oil and cook till you get dark brown spots on both sides.
  • Transfer the chapathis to a plate. In the same way, make more chapathis/ rotis and keep ready.
  • Now to make the rolls, take one chapathi, place 3 tbsp of the kheema stuffing and wrap it nicely so that the stuffing does not come out.
  • In the same way, make more Kheema rolls.
  • Serve hot with ketchup or pack it in your lunch box.
