HOW TO MAKE A PERFECT PIZZA BASE AT HOME/ HOME MADE PIZZA CRUST RECIPE

Pizza is a delicious dish of Italian origin which has gained popularity across the globe. It is fresh, flavorful and delicious. The key to making a good Pizza is a perfectly baked and soft Pizza base. In this post, I am going to share the recipe of making a perfect Pizza base that you can use while making your Pizzas.

Here I have used Active dry yeast to proof my pizza base dough. The pizza base comes out soft inside and slightly crispy on the outside.

You can top the Pizza base with vegetables, Chicken, Paneer or any topping of your choice. If you are short of options, you can check out my recipe of making Vegetable and Cheese pizza HERE. This pizza base recipe is an easy recipe which even beginners can try. So forget those store bought Pizzas and try to make Pizzas at home with this recipe of Pizza base and using toppings of your choice.

Depending on whether you need a thick crust pizza or a thin crust pizza, you can roll the Pizza base dough! I personally like thin crust pizzas, so I made 3 thin pizza base using this recipe. You can also make the pizza base in advance, place it in zip lock bags and refrigerate for later use.

So, let's head on to the recipe of making Pizza base at home.

Makes 2 normal or 3 small pizzas
Ingredients required for making Pizza base

1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp olive oil

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup warm water or milk( add more if needed)

Method

  • Take a bowl, add yeast, salt, sugar and 1/2 cup warm water/ milk and mix well.
  • Set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Then sieve All purpose flour and baking powder, and add to the yeast mixture.
  • Add oil and mix everything well.
  • Add more water/ milk if necessary.
  • Keep kneading for about 5 minutes and make a smooth dough.
  • Cover the dough with a lid and set aside for 1 to 2 hours till it doubles in size.
  • Knock down the dough and knead well for a minute.
  • The dough must be smooth and elastic. Divide it into 2 or 3 balls according to your choice and roll to form a circle of about 1/4" or 1/8" thickness (depending on whether you want a thick crust or thin crust pizza)

To cook the pizza base without oven

  • Turn to the other side.

  • Cook in low flame for about 2 minutes till the cheese melts. Carefully take the pizza out of the pan on to a plate.
  • In the same way make the remaining pizzas.
  • Serve hot.

To bake the pizza base in an oven

  • Preheat oven at 200 degree C for 10 minutes
  • Place the pizza base on a tray and cover with muslin cloth. Allow it to rise for about 10 minutes.
  • Then using a fork prick each base, place one base on a greased baking tray,
  • Keep the tray in the middle shelf of a preheated oven and bake at 200 degree Celsius for 8 minutes.
  • Pizza base is now ready. Remove from the oven, add pizza sauce and topping of your choice like tomatoes, roasted chicken, onions, bell peppers and cheese and bake again for 5 to 10 minutes or till the cheese melts.
